After finishing her novel, she submitted the manuscript to 12 publishers. They all rejected. Finally , a small publishing house Bloomsbury too was almost on the verge of rejecting it. However, the first chapter of the book was read by Alice Newton, the 8 year old daughter of Bloomsbury's chairman. Alice Newton loved the story so much that she asked her father to publish it. And much reluctantly, Bloomsbury published the book that no other publisher wished to publish. Thats how JK Rowling's HARRY POTTER series began
